# Dr. Max Helmberger *educator **•** soil ecologist **•** game designer* ![[IMG_9807 copy.png]] ## about me I am foremost a dedicated biology teacher committed to continuously improving my pedagogy through established strategies and my own experimentation. My favorite area of biology to teach, learn about, and research is the ecology of soil invertebrates and their roles in ecosystem processes and services in both natural and managed environments. I also design educational games for both classroom and general board-gaming audiences, and yes, one of them is all about soil biodiversity. I'm currently a **Postdoctoral Associate/Lecturer at Boston University**, where I teach upper-division ecology courses and a course on educational board game design. I received my Ph.D. in Entomology from Michigan State University, M.S. in Entomology from Cornell University, and B.S. in Biology from University of Minnesota Duluth. Feel free to check out my [[CV]], learn more about my [[research]] or the [[courses I teach]], or play my [[games]]!
